Wednesday, July 29- Tour Prague with Jan

Jo woke up multiple times in the middle of the night. The final time was just before 2:00 am. Our “roommate”, whom we haven’t met yet arrived back at 2:30 am. From his, yes HIS stumbling around, it seemed like he had a great night out! There are only 6 beds in our room. Shannon, Sue, Pat, Jenny, random guy, and myself occupy them. That’s how it goes when you do a hostel, you set yourself up for an adventure to meet new people. Besides 3 bunkbeds, there is a cabinet where each individual has a code to lock their valuables in. We are fortunate enough to have a window AC unit and a fan. Other than that, the shower and toilet are community and located out of the room. Makes for wonderful stories and memories.

Jenny, Sue, and Shannon went to look at three Jewish Synagogues. Jo and Pat worked on getting their things regrouped and will meet up with them.

12:30 PM Shannon, Sue, Jenny, Jo, Pat, ad Jan had lunch at Kolkova, which has authentic Prague food.

After lunch, we went on a riverboat cruise to see Prague from a different perspective.

Prague castle in the background. The Prague Castle was founded in the 9th century and is the largest historic castle complex in the world, occupying an area of 70,000 meters. The Prague Castle was the seat of kings and emperors; today it serves as the offical seat of the President of the Czech Republic.

Charles Charles Bridge was originally referred to as "stone bridge" until the 19th century was the only link between the right and left banks of the Vltava River. Charles IV ordered the construction in 1357, making it the oldest bridge in Prague.

The building with the black roof is the most expensive hotels in Prague. Famous people like Leonardo DiCaprio have stayed here.

A damn, we had to turn around. At the top of the damn people rent paddle boats and paddle around.

Walking to get ice cream we passed the old Opera House.

National Theatre was opened in 1881. The theatre burned down the same year it was opened. A nation-wide collection raised one million gulden in 47 days, allowing for it to be restored.

The Devil's Channel

The Devil's Chanel with the Grand Priory Mill. The Vodnik Kabourek collects souls of the people who are bad to keep the area safe.

Ice Cream....you scream, I scream, we all scream for Ice Cream or delicious cakes! In order to get into the ice cream shop, we had to have reservations. This ice cream shop's pastry chef is the best in Prague.

After our delicious cakes, we stopped at the Lennon Wall of Freedom. This is a famous free open-air graffiti mural, peace memorial, and historical symbol of resistance located on Velkoprevorske namesti (Grand Priory Square) in the Mala Strana district.

Following the assassination of John Lennon, the youth in Prague painted his portrait and Beatles lyrics on this wall as a peaceful protest against the communist regime.

Right behind the wall was a beautiful gardnen.

We were relaxing after our dinner on the terrace, when Sue noticed a startled woman jump up from the table next to us. Jenny and Shannon heard a scream and turned around to see what was happening. We watched in amazement as a big rat snatched a french fry from the basket on her table, then scampeed away before we could get our cameras out. The rest of the patrons kept eating as usual, but the lady was gone.
