We were relieved not to stay in the dilapidated house that might have been infested with cockroaches. We were thankful we didn't have to carry our bikes up all those stairs and grateful that everything fell into place for us to stay at a hotel, allowing us to keep the car and trailer there for the entire week.
"We loaded the bikes onto the trailer Thursday night to ensure an early departure on Friday morning. A big thank you to Phil and Mike for crafting the bike rack to hold six bikes. What an impressive amount of work!
By Friday morning, we were all set to leave. We weighed our bags to determine how much extra weight each of us would carry on our bikes.
Pat- 25 lbs
Jo- 22 lbs
Sue- 21 lbs
Shannon- 21 lbs
Jenny- 18 lbs
Mary- 17 lbs
We are all ready to go!
8:15-9:45 am
Stop #1- Stopped near Elmore, Ohio to check on bikes! Everything is looking good.
Stop #2- Another bike check. Jenny’s bike was vibrating a lot and needed to be tightened up.
Stop #3- Somerset, PA
Bike checks, bathroom, and a funny picture. 34 more miles to go…46 more minutes.
Stop #4-
Jenny’s back bike tire was off from vibrating throughout the trip. Stopped at Wheelze Up for a quick repair. Jenny was all set so we broke our golden rule and rode by herself 1.5 miles to where we are staying for the night.
Made it to 513 Bedford St. per our booking.com reservation when a voice from a car across the street notified us that this was her rental place and it was a false booking.
We soon met Natlaia as she was returning from Wendy’s to her apartment. Very nice girl but wasn’t looking for extra company tonight!!! We immediately started calling hotels trying to get 2 rooms for tonight. The issue is there is a concert in town. We are having some great laughs!
We finally found a hotel! Got our bikes unloaded, checked the air in the tires so they would be ready first thing in the morning when we start our ride.
